I'm new to "Holi -The Festival of Colors"- what is it all about?
Well, apart from it being great fun to dunk your friends in color, The Festival of colors (Holi) announces the passing of winter and arrival of spring. People bury their hatchets with a warm embrace and throw their worries to the wind. Festival promotes friendship while offering an occasion to forgive and forget
Tips for colors
The dry powders supplied may stain hair & clothes.
To minimize stains shake out all dry excess powder before shower, or throwing your clothes in the wash.
Do not throw colors into people’s eyes or mouth.
Anyone with asthma or any other breathing issues should avoid color events
Same advice if you happen to be allergic to corn starch.
Do not wear contacts to a color event!
Outside colors are prohibited.
Bring plastic seat covers for your car to drive back home.
Be courteous of local businesses & do not leave messes in their bathrooms.
Do not throw colors on any performers, musicians, and Park Police
How will color be sold?
You can buy the color with a small donation of $2.50 per bag. Due to safety reasons, colors from outside are strictly prohibited
Can some people have an allergic reaction to the powders.
The powders are 99% corn starch. If you are allergic to corn than please take precaustionsI
Can I bring toddlers/infants to the event?
The Festival of colors has been a safe event for families. The children and kids as young as 3 years old have a lot of fun running around and playing with colors. That said, toddlers/babies need some extra care which none can provide better than parents themselves.
Will there be a place to keep my valuables?
No. Simply Vedic cannot take on the responsibility of safe-keeping valuables. We suggest you either leave them in your car or home
Is outside food allowed at the event?
No. Outside food is not permitted at the event. Vegetarian Food can be purchased at nominal price from our booth inside
Are there any wash facilities for cleaning-up after the event?
No, there is no dedicated wash facility.
Parking
There are many Free parking options. Handicap
accessible/ADA parking at Naperville Central High school, Naperville Municipal Parking and several free parking places around Riverwalk.
Van Buren Parking Facility: 43 W. Van Buren Ave.
Central Parking Facility: 75 E. Chicago Ave.
Municipal Center Parking Facility: 400 S. Eagle St.
Water Street Parking Facility: 120 Water St.
Are there any unusual fire & explosion hazards with Colors?
Like all organic and most dry chemicals, as a powder or dust, this product (when mixed with air in critical proportions and in the presence of an ignition source) may present an explosion hazard. The minimum ignition temperature reported for dry cornstarch, through 200 mesh, is 380°C (716°F). Avoid open lights, flames, smoking materials, hot coals of any type or welding in area of product. Not recommended for indoor usage. Outdoor usage in well ventilated open space.
